Ornithology Books

Once the warm weather hits, at least one Bookery employee rushes over to Sapsucker Woods, home of the Cornell Ornithology Lab, with a few bird books in hand. We’ve got a lovely selection of ornithology books at the store, from giant folios for the coffee table, to pocket-sized guides to take out on the trails. Even if you don’t have access to good bird-watching spots, we think some of our books could awake the birder in you.

The Outsider

We’ve been lucky enough to add three issues of The Outsider to our inventory recently. These literary magazines from the 1960s feature the work of iconic beat writers William S. Burroughs, Allen Ginsberg, Lawrence Ferlinghetti, Gary Snyder, Michael McClure, and Jack Kerouac. Look out for Langston Hughes and Jean Genet in these issues, as well. These fascinating magazines, printed by hand, provide a window into the artistic aesthetic of a bygone era.

Calling All Spring Cleaners…

We buy books in an array of subjects here at The Bookery. If you’ve run out of room on your shelves, bring your extra books down to the store. We’ve got hand carts here for larger loads, and the staff will happily help you bring your books in. We’re especially interested in philosophy, music, and modern art at the moment, but we’ll take a look at whatever you’ve got. Before you donate those unwanted books, see if you can make a buck or two selling them to The Bookery!

Maples In the Mist

We’re adding some new books to the inventory today, including this gorgeous author-signed book of children’s poems from the Tang Dynasty: Maples In The Mist, by Minfong Ho. We’re getting lost in the gorgeous full-page illustrations. It’s shelved in the Children’s section, but we think people of all ages will enjoy it.
