Happy Place

Emily Henry

Emily Henry's novel Happy Place follows Harriet and Wyn, who were together for a decade but have recently broken up, and decided not to tell their friends while on vacation in Maine. This story, like Pride and Prejudice, has two characters making excuses as to why they're not in love with each other, and each coping to being so close to each other in their own way. Charming and heartwarming, this romantic novel will have you turning the pages and rooting for the main characters.

The Identicals

Elin Hilderbrand

The Identicals might seem an odd choice for a list of books similar to Pride and Prejudice, but deep down, it shares a lot of the same themes. Both novels have family dynamic themes, with the two main characters in The Identicals being sisters, and while their relationship is the opposite of the Bennet sisters, they share the complexities of sibling loyalty and rivalry. The Identicals is also a social commentary on class and cultural expectations, much so like Jane Austen's novels. These social expectations around marriage are also presented in both novels. While a very different novel in style and setting, The Identicals shares a lot of the things that make Pride and Prejudice such a deep and relevant novel, even today.
