Books that take place in Small Towns

One of my favorite book tropes is the small town setting. Stories that take place in charming, small towns feel cozy and warm to me, the type of story I want to curl up to with a cup of tea and my favorite blanket. Maybe it's the Gilmore Girls influence, but a lot of reader's favorite books take place in small towns. One of my personal favorites is The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry by Gabrielle Zevin, recently made into a movie. This one takes place in fictional Alice Island in a small town where everyone knows each other and there is only one bookstore. The main characters are A.J. Fikry, a bookseller who is given a new chance at life after his wife dies with an unexpected arrival. He finds love with a fellow book lover and will slowly build his life back. This book was heartwarming and life-affirming, two of my favorite characteristics in a book!
